Prisons

The history of Dovarese Island is difficult to reconstruct because of the few documents available, but in these a particularly riotous population often emerges, scarcely inclined to respect the authorities. The square

This large space, named in memory of Giacomo Matteotti, seems almost disproportionate to represent a town of only 1100 inhabitants. It is part of the urbanization project wanted by Giulio Cesare Gonzaga in the 16th century.
