Marquis Ludovico visited Isola Dovarese several times, while Marquise Barbara stayed in Isola in 1458 together with her daughter Dorotea, at that time betrothed to Galeazzo Maria Sforza, future Duke of Milan and son of Francesco Sforza and Bianca Maria Visconti.
The chronological background for the reconstruction of the village, the taverns and the culinary recipes, the costumes embraces a wider period in order to draw on a greater number of sources and documents, both historical and iconographic. This period starts from the year in which Isola Dovarese swore allegiance to Ludovico Gonzaga, 2nd Marquis of Mantua, 1451, until 1490, the year Isabella d’Este arrived in Mantua.
